12 Mar Not on our watch!
Why we take sexual harassment very seriously.
You’ve heard all about what constitutes sexual harassment and the associated disciplinary responses on the perpetrator, but what impact has it got on the victim?
Sexual Harassment goes further than well-being, impacting the victim and the families professionally and financially.
Harassment can create a toxic environment resulting in absenteeism, low morale, stress and anxiety. This affects productivity and performance. A natural extension of harassment is the possibility of lawsuits and with this, loss of reputation which can cause a loss of income.
“If unchecked, the psychological and emotional damage experienced can cause the victim to withdraw and disengage, resulting in a drop in performance or increased absenteeism, and with that, the possibility of wage losses and unpaid leave. Sadly, the situation can become worse if the victim reports sexual harassment. They may be overlooked for promotion, excluded from opportunities to progress and even become labelled as a trouble maker.”
We need to stand together and stop sexual harassment by speaking out. Sexual harassment should never happen on our watch. Our people’s well-being and our company’s reputation is far too precious!”
